This is a new one to me. I gotta admit though I wasn't even sure how Patton died. Sounds like an interesting story though.

They just talked about this on a recent Ian show. If you ever watch the movie Patton, he wanted to use the German army to attack the Russians and make it look like the Russians started it.

If you look at the manner in which he was killed, it does indeed look like he was set up for a "Coronation of the King." It is certainly true that had he lived, Eisenhower's polictical career would have been endangered, since like it or not, it was Patton's relentlessness that won the war and if he had pressed into Russia there would never been a Cold War, Korean War or Viet Nam since Russia at the time barely survived WWII and would not have survived an attack at that time. But then, we wouldn't have had Rambo either...
