Thankfully.

You start ignoring this crap after a while, but it is true that they worst ones are usually later in the season.

We got hit with Katrina (went mostly east of us( and Rita (killed our power for a while, took down some pecan trees, flooded my Mom and Dad's house) in less than the span of a month (August and September) in 2005. The worst part of that was that our town (which is in central La) had grown to almost THREE times it's normal size supporting people who were displaced because of Katrina. We're far enough North that we don't usually get hit bad, but if the storm is big enough and the hit is direct, we can still get wrecked pretty badly.

I still say it's mostly fearmongering, though.

I'll tell you why Louisiana gets hit so much. It's when gas prices start falling.
