I posted this over at the Paratopia forum, but thought I would post here too.

A few weeks ago while traveling back in the car from a day MTB trail riding, I spotted a solid silver "Orb" circling a cloud. I managed to watch it for a few seconds and noticed that it entered a thin section of the cloud and exited again on the opposite side only to circle and re-enter the cloud. At this point I managed to pull into a slip-road and stop the car, however, I did not notice the object emerge from the cloud again. There is a possibility that I simply missed it through finding a place to stop

The object itself appeared from my POV to be a shiny reflective silver orb. It was performing very fast, tight turns, however, these were not right-angle maneuvers. I looked at the weather for the day and the cloud base listed for the area was approx 2200ft above sea level. Nice sunny day with no rain. The time was approx 2.30pm

As I was driving, there was no way for me to attempt to take a picture, and quite frankly given the brightness of the day, the type of camera I had to hand and the apparent altitude of the cloud and object, it would have been nothing short of worthless.

Anyway, nothing revolutionary, just thought I would mention it

Dave

Hi Dave,

No worries :)

Thanks for that Andy - presumably you've not seen anything like this before then?

We're actually heading up that way in a couple of weeks' time so shall keep 'em peeled..

Regards,

Dave.

Hi Dave,

No, this was my first sighting of an unknown in the sky.

Its worth pointing out that approx 25 miles from where I was when spotted the object is Mildenhall AFB. However, the object was certainly not a conventional aircraft due to its appearance and the maneuvers it performed.

Have a happy visit!

Yes, Mildenhall always a bit, er spooky wasn't it - a lot went on there, and at other East Anglian bases - now vacated since the end of the Cold War..

..hmm..

I'm sure we'll enjoy the trip - plenty to see!

Thanks!

All the best,

D.
