Via Leslie Kean ...

June 15, 1931 - August 21, 2011

I’m very sad to announce that Budd Hopkins died today, August 21, at 1:35 pm. Budd had been under hospice care for about three weeks, at his home in New York. The combination of liver cancer and pneumonia led to his death. His daughter Grace Hopkins-Lisle and I were with him almost continuously during these past weeks. He was not in any pain throughout any of the process, and he received the best possible care and loving support from those closest to him. Today he gradually slipped away, and simply quietly stopped breathing. He died peacefully and without any struggle, with Grace, Grace’s husband Andrew, and me by his side.

Thanks to all of you for being such strong supporters of this extraordinary man, who has contributed so much to our lives, in so many different ways.

-Leslie Kean

Sad news. That makes 3 recent deaths, Budd, Stuart Miller and Gabe Valdez.

Sad news indeed - regardless of your views, Budd Hopkins was a truly pivotal character in the UFO world & will I know be sorely missed.

My condolences to his friends and family alike.

Even though it's not cool anymore to like a mere hypno-therapist because of one bad incident (AKA author of the Threat, which automatically discredits everything anyone has ever done in this realm according to some), I have no problem praising the years or research and tireless work this pioneer did.

Hopkins was a giant and for better (sometimes worse if you watch the annual Montel abduction special, lol), the abduction field has him to thank for being a shining light of truth in a dark corner of ufology. I've always looked up to him and I think we're all richer for the research he's done.

Bravo Budd, and safe travels ...

Yes, not popular. I understand Budd probably made some mistakes, but I know people that literally felt he saved theirs lives. Remember back when he started, there was almost nobody for abductees to turn to. People that had abduction related memories were just left to think they were going insane. Whether his hypno-therapy really works or not, those people at least started feeling less alone and that maybe they weren't crazy.
