Help
In My Life
Nowhere Man

and a few others.

Basically of the Beatles I like John and George's stuff. Ringo has a few good songs that are fun. I just can't stand Pauls stuff. He's the epitome of pop.

What I like about the Beatles really is the behind the scenes stuff. Their Occultism, fighting, boozing, lost weekends stuff. John was a crazy sunofabitch, especially when he was with Henry Nillson.

They influenced a generation. Who wrote more hits than Lennon and Mccartney? Beatles and out of Beatles .
I've heard all the other artists you can think of, none of them equal the hit producing ability of those two, and occasionally, Harrison.
Mccartney had an amazing solo career ! Lennon didn't live that long, unfortunately . He did some very good solo work as well .
People have different opinions , but fact is fact .

Clearly they were very popular and successful, but that does nothing to convince me that they're anything other than the world's most successful pop band. So yeah, while it is a fact that they were incredibly successful, it isn't a fact that they're the best band of all time. From an innovative and technical perspective, I simply don't find them to be all that earth shattering. I think they were more than happy to appeal to the mainstream. And, like I said, there's nothing wrong with that. But my musical tastes have never been mainstream.

Exactly Orpheus.

If sales and popularity ruled, then George Strait and Conway Twitty would be geniuses, as each has over 50 hits. Im unimpressed with what the masses buy into. I also dont like Led Zep..... then again we have covered all this before too so no need in beating a dead horse.

1) The Beatles DO suck.
2) Your damn right I'm a KISS fan. For the umpteenth time, KISS works because they're the epitome of what a rock show is supposed to be. Two-plus hours of over-the-top, not-of-this-world energy.

Or to put it in terms you can better understand MM,
KISS is Derek Jeter. Even if you hate him, you respect what he's done his whole career. He might have zero range now as a shortstop, but you want him playing for your team in the world series because he wins.

The Beatles? They're A-Rod. Way overrated and even the most devoted!!!! insane!!!! Yankee fan!!! is ashamed that he's on the club

I hate KISS, actually. Gene Simmons is a prostitute. Although I do like "God of Thunder".

Anyway, my point about the Beatles remains- They're a pop band that, due to the time at which they hit, have been elevated to a near messianic status that they're in no way deserving of.

I forgot "And Your Bird Can Sing"

Those who hate the Beatles don't realize that every 70's band was a comment on their work...fuck...every band after them was a comment on their work....where would Motley Crue be without their cover of "Helter Skelter"? Where would the Sex Pistols be if Pink Floyd hadn't taken the White Album idea and bored everyone to death with it for a decade? There wouldn't have even been a Black Sabbath, since Ozzy has said numerous times that the Beatles were his primary influence? Lest you offer the Stones...they got their contract on George Harrison's recommendation....Jimi Hendrix got signed cos McCartney dug him....

So good to see I'm not the only one that is completely mystified by The Beatles being elevated to the status they are. I don't hate them. I think they wrote pretty good pop songs. But I think it begins and ends with pretty good pop songs. They were the epitome of mainstream appeal, and while there's nothing wrong with that, I like my music to be a little more challenging than anything The Beatles ever did.

That's because you weren't there. Neither was I, but in my Haight Street wanderings, I heard stories. In the 60's/70's it was customary for everyone to have their stereo speakers facing out the window, so that when you walked down the street, you'd hear say Janis for a block, followed by the Mamas and the Papas on another and say, Otis Redding on another....you get the picture. Well, when Sgt. Peppers was released, everybody had that on the turntable. So you'd walk down the whole street and hear that album wherever you went. It was around this time too that George actually started turning up on Haight...so that added to the excitement. It really was a magical time.

I'm sure the Beatles shaped music in ways that most people can't appreciate. But for me...the Beatles...meh. I'd rather listen to Zeppelin.

Lady Gaga is the new Beatles!!!

No no no no no no! That is a disgrace to the beatles name. You can't even begin to compare "She male blah blah" to the beatles ("she male blah blah" is the name i gave lady gaga)

8) The Beatles have put their mark on music history!!!
They have influenced countless other musicians and have created great songs that will live forever !

Yeah...if you want a real Rock education get a really big Buddy Holly compilation and listen to it. He covered nearly every genre that would follow in the next 40 years. It can be fairly said that every song written since 1962 owes something to Buddy Holly. And the fact that he wrote so many songs before 22 just makes him more gigantic. And the rest of rock and roll that didn't come from Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Bo Diddley came from Johnny Cash.

BUDDY HOLLY was a genius !!!!! McCARTNEY and LENNON learned how to write by studying his work.
