I just got back from Borders downtown Chicago. I got to meet Tommy Chong, hear him speak and get a copy of his new book signed.
He was a very cool guy and just like you'd imagine, a TOTAL hippie. He talked about how his life changed in prison when he hung out with some Lakotas & went through a sweat lodge ritual. Apparently since prisons had churches, synagogues, and accommodated just about every religion, the Indians successfully sued to get a sweat lodge in prison.
After going through a sweat, he came out a changed man. He talked about how his whole attitude and outlook on life changed and he became a much better person. He even still wears around his neck the medicine bag they gave him when he was released.
I can't wait to read the book. Even more, I can't wait to see Cheech & Chong live this November when they come to town. I was lucky to get tickets, both shows sold out crazy fast, less than an hour.
Last year George Carlin came to town & we were going to get tickets & said "we'll go next time" well.... I didn't want to make that same mistake, so we got tix for their show and I went to the book signing. It was really cool to get to meet him and see him up close & personal like that.
It was far out man!
