Anyone else get their free plastic Black Lantern ring today when they picked up their books today?

8) Nice touch DC.

I don't buy many DC or Marvel books, but that was a great idea.

Makes me almost forget how much Countdown SUCKED.

If I'm going to pluck down that much cash to buy a whole run of a summer crossovr, it's nice to get a SURPRISE gift, even if it cost about 10 cents for them to make.

And the giveaway makes me hopeful that Blackest Night will be a well-written, significant event in DC's history.

I had a chance to pick it up today but declined.

Would you recommend it for someone that's only a casual follower of the DC Universe?

Khyron, I'd consider myself a casual DC fan, so yes.

I don't know a lot about the Lanterns outside of the Earth ones and I don't feel overwhelmed by the story at all.

What you picking up these days? I've scaled back a bit.
My pull list is:
Crossed (Avatar)
No Hero (Avatar)
Gravel (Avatar)
Ignitiion City (Avatar)
Chew (Image)
Dead Run (Boom)
GI Joe (IDW)
All Blackest Night titles (DC)
New Mutants (Marvel)

I too have scaled back. Right now I'm pulling Spawn Endgame and the new Aliens and Predator books from Dark Horse.

I'd love to throw some superhero action in there, so perhaps Blackest Night is for me. Is there any word on how many issues it will be?

I appreciate the list. Next time I'm in ye olde Comic Shoppe I'll have to hunt down some Green Lantern action.

So far, there have been some cool moments.

But, there's some horrific writing and plotting in this series. :( :( :(

Hey RSS, I noticed GI Joe is on your pull list.

I have a question for you that has been bugging me and my brother (we both get the Joe series). Does it seem like they are taking WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long to build to anything? Not to mention that it seems like we're paying four bucks an issue for less than 20 pages of story and then 20 pages of in house ads.

Just wanted your take, we'[ve decided if they don't shape up by Dec. we're dropping it in Jan (and I've had GI Joe pulled since 1984).

Of the three Joe titles, I like G.I. Joe Origins the best. Why? Mostly because of Larry Hama.

I want to like Chuck Dixon's G.I. Joe title more, but I agree I want a better story.

The other title, G.I. Joe vs. Cobra, is an absolute abomination.

As for the content issues, I find myself much more dissatisfied with the 22-pages of content offered in the Joe titles than I ever am with the 22-pages I read in virtually any Avatar book.

IDW and Avatar both pile up the ads in the back of the book. I just seem to notice it more with the IDW titles.

BTW,
I added Irredeemable (Boom) to my pull list. Why did I ever doubt Mark Waid? I picked up the graphic novel and loved it.

Of my current pulls, New Mutants and GI Joe are on the verge of being dropped.

With Crossed and No Hero ending, I'm looking forward to Warren Ellis' next Avatar project, Supergod.

So going forward, my pulls are:
Gravel (Avatar)
Ignition City (Avatar)
Supergod (Avatar)
Chew (Image)
Dead Run (Boom)
Irredeemable (Boom)
GI Joe Origins (IDW)
All Blackest Night titles (DC)
----
And a maybe on:
GI Joe (IDW)
New Mutants (Marvel)
