Crap. I thought it was $44.95. Maybe I'll skip the pizza and fork over that extra $15.

At this point, I'm only about 65% sure I am going to actually order Wrestlemania.

I just checked the price of the PPV ... $54.95 !!

That's fucking ridiculous.

Not to sound like an old fart, but when I was a kid, all WWF PPV events were $20.

PPV is becoming an antiquated business model in this day and age, and WWE are trying to fight declining sales with higher costs, especially for WM which is really the only guaranteed "blockbuster" PPV anymore. With pirated feeds as easy to find as they are, that adds another dimension to the reduced viability of the format. I like what Ring of Honor is doing with their iPPV (twenty dollars for an online PPV) format, but don't know if that's the answer long term.

Dixie Carter has said a few times that TNA eventually wants to move away from the traditional PPV business model in some way, although I don't think they have any real ideas at this point (which is TNA's problem on a lot of fronts).

Watching the HoF special now. Looks like Eucker, Georgeous George, and Ted DiBiase are the featured stars this year.

Orpheus, are you going to post your picks for WM ?

I might get around to it tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm working on my thesis right now and haven't had time to do or think about anything enjoyable in quite some time.

Ugh. Added today to the WM card ...

10-Diva tag match
Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Eve, Gail Kim & Beth Phoenix vs Michelle McCool, Maryse, Layla, Alicia Fox & Vickie Guerrero

Since it was added so late prior to the card, I'm thinking of just not including it in the predictions contest.

I'll go with Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Eve, Gail Kim & Beth Phoenix, if we include it.

Cool. Vaeni went with Maryse, which I presume means the heel team. I'll take the heel team, too.

We'll only include it if everyone manages to return to this thread and update their predictions. Otherwise, it will not be included in the contest.

I really have no interest in this years Mania at all. And apparently it's the same with a lot of people as they had to paper 20,000 tickets to the show. So it's almost cheaper to fly to Arizona and try to get a free ticket than it is to see it on PPV.

Well, I caved and ordered Wrestlemania. Splurged the extra $5 for the HD version. So, I'm out $60 and will probably get bored after about 20 minutes, lol.

Rumour has it that the MizShow match will start the event and the Taker v. HBK match will end the night.

So far, it's been pretty good.

MizShow beat Morrison & R-Truth

Orton beat DiBiase & Rhodes

Jack Swagger won MITB

Great skit w. Vicki, Santino, Mae Young, and Mean Gene.

Shaemus v. HHH on now.

After hour 2:

HHH beat Shameus

Rey Rey beat CM Punk

Bret Hart beat Vince

The Hart match just ended and it was fucking atrocious. Just Hart beating Vince with a chair for like 15 minutes. They tried to dress it up w. Hart family schenanigans (all pro-Bret), but it was terrible. A wholly one sided match that was really a farce.

CM Punk match was too short, but decent.

HHH match was surprisingly good. Shaemus was very good.

Heading into the close ...

Jericho beat Edge via some schenanigans

Team Vicki beat Team Faces is a somewhat hilarious match. Vicki is perversely entertaining and I am now a fan of the "Hog Splash."

Cena v. Batista up next

Final hour ...

Cena beat Batista
Undertaker beat Shawn Michaels

Taker v. Michaels was very good. Great ending, shades of Flair v. Michaels from 2 years ago.

Predictions contest results will be tallied and posted once I've gotten a grip on my bearings. I've got Wrestlemania fever. I hear it is slightly worse that SARS but not as bad as monkey pox.
