Did you see the Boston Globe story about the Sox meltdown?
Yes, I saw it. It was surprising (in some ways) and disappointing.
I think management threw Francona under the bus in a huge way, bringing up a lot of personal stuff that wasn't called for and sounds pretty off-base. As Gordon Edes wrote about on ESPN.com, this is typical of how things work in Boston when a likeable figure leaves the team -

Surprised to see Lester in the mix, since I figured it was just Lachey and Beckett. After all this, Lachey needs to go, he stinks and is clearly a clubhouse killer.
Wouldn't be surprised to see the Sox unload Youkilis as well. He seems to have taken a turn for the worse.
I also heard that Pedroia lost the clubhouse, because he is super tight w. Francona. That wasn't in the article, but it is the scuttlebutt in the local media.
Not looking good for a return for Wakefield, but it would still be advantageous for the Sox to bring him back, since they could use an innings eater who is relatively dependable.
Was enjoying the Tigers game until Texas exploded in the 11th inning and shamed poor Papa Grande. If it is a Texas v. St. Louis WS, I will be disgusted.
