Did you see the Boston Globe story about the Sox meltdown?

Yes, I saw it. It was surprising (in some ways) and disappointing.

I think management threw Francona under the bus in a huge way, bringing up a lot of personal stuff that wasn't called for and sounds pretty off-base. As Gordon Edes wrote about on ESPN.com, this is typical of how things work in Boston when a likeable figure leaves the team - http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/_/id/7092528/terry-francona-victim-latest-red-sox-smear-campaign

Glad to see the drinking pitchers outed, because everyone was speculating about that one. Surprised to see Lester in the mix, since I figured it was just Lachey and Beckett. After all this, Lachey needs to go, he stinks and is clearly a clubhouse killer.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the Sox unload Youkilis as well. He seems to have taken a turn for the worse.

I also heard that Pedroia lost the clubhouse, because he is super tight w. Francona. That wasn't in the article, but it is the scuttlebutt in the local media.

Not looking good for a return for Wakefield, but it would still be advantageous for the Sox to bring him back, since they could use an innings eater who is relatively dependable.

Was enjoying the Tigers game until Texas exploded in the 11th inning and shamed poor Papa Grande. If it is a Texas v. St. Louis WS, I will be disgusted.

My favorite part about the Sox stories is eating fried chicken in the clubhouse. Because hey, why not?

Why the disgust at the possibility of a Texas versus ST. Louis WS?

St. Louis are the NY Yankees of the NL League, so I hate them.

Texas is boring, but I must now cheer for them, since they are AL champs.

Ugh.

Good run by the Tabbies.

ST Louis played with their backs against the wall in september. Beating the heavily favored Phillies and going against rival Brewers, I can't quite get the NYY analogy. Check with Grokl, he might have a recipe on how to make wine out of the sour grapes you seem to be in possession of. Bring on Texas, I hope it is a good series to watch.

Yeah, the Cards aren't the Yankees. STL picked up a few players people thought were over the hill and had Pujols. The Yankees find the All Stars from the year that are available and offer them ungodly amounts of money. Plus c'mon let's be honest, the Red Sox are just as bad as the Yankees about fielding All Star squads instead of putting together a real team.

Cardinals in 6 games.

I must cheer for the AL here. Texas in 6.

And yes, I believe I did get served. Nice one, Hillbilly. I'll try and think of a comeback tonight during the 35 pitching changes that Tony LaRussa will use during Game 1 alone.

I LOL'D. I'm a Cardinals fan, not a Tony LaRussa fan. The guy doesn't understand pitching staffs. He can set a good rotation but he doesn't get using the bullpen. Carpenter could be up for another Cy Young award if he didn't pull him in the 8th all those times to try to get the closer a save.

Can't say I am a big LaRussa fan either. But I am a NLER all the way. Where the pitchers can actually help their own cause by batting. Oh, and Tim check your wild animal kingdom. Bet in the trees a squirrel or two are wearing tiny little teeshirts with a bird on a bat.

Begrudging respect to St. Louis. That was an epic game. One of the best I've seen in quite some time. Simply amazing. And, to top it all off, we get an ultimate Game 7 tonight to decide it all. This has been one hell of a World Series.

It was a nailbiter. And the old saw " be careful what you wish for" comes to mind when I flippantly stated hope it was a good series to watch. Cheers and see you on the other side.
