Let's get down to business folks, it's time, once again, for the most hotly contested BoA contest of them all ... the MLB Predictions contest! Sorry it has taken a bit to get this thread started, but I'm still totally thrown off by Opening Day being moved to a Thursday. The good news, this year, is that the addition of two more wildcard teams should eliminate the many, many ties that plagued the contest in previous years. Anyway, good luck to all who enter.

For the killjoys who may want to enter but don't want to join the forum, you can email your picks to me here: tbinnall@hotmail.com

Some rules & prize info ...

    * You only get credit for exact picks (i.e. if you pick the Mets for NL East and they win NL Wildcard, you get no points for that). However, in the event of a tie, such transposed picks will be used as tiebreakers.

    * After 2009's stunning victory by usofe member MysteryMan, we instituted an additional prize: usofe champion wins the right to appear on the 2013 edition of the Baseball Special as a guest. Note, winner of this prize may opt out if they don't want to appear on the show. In the event of a mass tie, as in 2011, there shall be no on-air representative.

    * So ... winner gets a shout-out on BoA:Audio, bragging rights for one year, and a spot in the BoA Hall of Champions. usofe winner gets a spot on the 2013 special. If the usofe winner's points exceed the BoA:Audio winner's points, that person will earn the sole claim to the BoA Baseball League title (after 2009's controversial Loren Coleman v. MM debate).

    * Presumptive deadline to enter is Sunday, April 8th, 2012 ... but we're flexible about that for folks who wish to join up after hearing the baseball special.

And now ... make your picks ...

It wasn't an easy choice, RSS, but I had to pick someone.

Taping the final segments of the Baseball Special today. Happy to report that the complete gang will be back together this year: Coleman, Dolan, Offutt, Bishop, Kimball, and Gorightly.

Will post their picks soon. At this point, we've got a miniscule field for theusofe, so you may claim the title by default, RSS.

Well, I'm back to avenge the humiliation of a lousy set of 2011 picks (followed up by an extraordinarily bad NCAA Tournament bracket).

At any rate, here they are:

AL East: Tampa Bay [Devil] Rays
AL Central: Detroit Tigers
AL West: Anaheim, California Angels of Close to Los Angeles
AL Wildcard I: Toronto Blue Jays
AL Wildcard II: Texas Rangers

NL East: Miami Marlins
NL Central: Milwaukee Brewers
NL West: Arizona Diamondbacks
NL Wildcard I: Atlanta Braves
NL Wildcard II: Brooklyn Dodgers of Los Angeles

AL Champions: Detroit Tigers
NL Champions: Arizona Diamondbacks

World Series Champions: Detroit Tigers

Pains me to see no Red Sox in the postseason in my crystal ball -- neither they nor the Yankees have the pitching or health to make it this year.

Here are the 1st Round Results. Each * indicates a potential future point.

BoA:Audio Division
Adam Gorightly - 4/10
Loren Coleman - 3/10*
Paul Kimball - 3/10*
Tim Binnall - 3/10
Jason Offutt - 3/10
Greg Bishop - 2/10
Rich Dolan - 1/10**

theusofe.com Division
shotz90s - 4/10** -- 2012 usofe.com Predictions Champ (see below for tiebreaker info)
RSS - 4/10**
Salvatore Lorenzo - 4/10
League Minimum - 3/10**
MM - 3/10

Overall Standings
Adam Gorightly - 4/10
RSS - 4/10**
shotz90s - 4/10**
Salvatore Lorenzo - 4/10
League Minimum - 3/10**
Loren Coleman - 3/10*
Tim Binnall - 3/10
Jason Offutt - 3/10
Paul Kimball - 3/10*
MM - 3/10
Rich Dolan - 1/10**
Greg Bishop - 2/10

Potential Tiebreaker Scenarios ...

BoA:Audio Division

If NY Yankees win American League Championship, Loren Coleman wins 1 additional point, thus tying him w. Adam Gorightly. We then go to transposed picks, where Coleman will pick up an additional point where Gorightly will not, thus giving Loren Coleman the 2012 Prediction Championship.

If SF Giants win National League Championship, Paul Kimball wins 1 additional point. We then go to transposed picks, where Kimball will pick up an additional point where Gorightly will not, thus giving Paul Kimball the 2012 Prediction Championship.

Should both above scenarios take place, Coleman & Kimball will share the 2012 title.

Should neither above scenario take place, Gorightly will be the 2012 BoA:Audio Prediction Champion.

theusofe Division

If Detroit Tigers win AL Pennant and/or World Series, RSS & shotz90s will both pick up 1 and/or 2 points. Since this will also be a tie and both parties are already tied, we go to transposed picks, where shotz90s picks up a 6/10 score over RSS' 4/10 score remains the same, thus giving shotz90s the 2012 usofe.com Predictions Title.
