I hope MM shows up here, because I'd love to hear his reaction the NY trading their prized prospect Jesus Montero for a rookie pitcher who had one good year and is now on the DL and done for the season. I remember that MM was a huge Montero booster, so he must be pissed about all of this.

The Yanks and Red Sox just figure they'll fall over each other's moneybags in three years offering Montero a $100 million contract.

But for now, it's pretty nice seeing the Rays and Orioles up at the top of the AL East.

P.S. -- Has anyone created a fire Bobby V website yet?

Bobby V really put on the red nose and clown shoes this time.

Filing a bad lineup based on research he did off his cell phone and not realizing the pitcher his team was facing was a RHP not a LHP. Only to be saved by the catcher pointing it out to him.

There's certainly some underlying tension and hatred for Valentine, but I think he'll survive the year. Next year, anything is possible.

Personally, I don't think he's been given a fair shake, since he inherited a mess of a pitching staff, including a very suspect bullpen.

Meanwhile, word just broke that the grossly overpaid and overated Carl Crawford now need elbow surgery and will miss another 3 months of action. Ugh.

I think I just tore my MCL in sympathy. (OK, not really, but I do think I messed it up earlier this week, which goes nicely with the already known meniscus issues.)

Could be a career ender and I hate that for him and us. But what do I know, I wanted to keep Wetteland in the closer spot all those years ago. Boy was I wrong.

Leyland went nuclear -- to get ejected and then in his postgame interview.

Tabbies got hosed by a blind ump today.

lol, sorry. I tuned out after the lead got to be so crazy.

I figure RSS would have more to say, since his boy Verlander blew it for the AL.

Red Sox only had one guy in the game, so I barely had any interest.

I did, however, fully endorse the vehement booing of that evil Yankee Robinson Cano. That was great, especially in the HR derby.

Well, Prince Fielder did win the HR Derby. You want the Tigers to dominate the whole event?

Actually, I watched none of it.

I did watch the Showtime show about Miami Marlins. It felt a bit scripted and not as much behind-the-scenes, as it was intended to be.

Oh you shoulda head Bernie Carbo on the radio this morning. He was not in any way happy with the Boston Cry Sox. I think he was ready to go into the locker room and challenge them all to a fight, boy was he worked up!

So they blew up the Red Sox today, but haven't fired the manager.

The manager isn't the main problem with the Sox, RSS, the players are/were. They blew it last September while Bobby V was doing games for ESPN. Upper management just refused to look at the true problems and tried to fix things with cosmetic and managerial changes that did not address the real issues of overpaid, underperforming, spoiled players.

This is a fantastic day for Red Sox fans. Believe me, there is rejoicing in the streets over this trade. I could not be happier to see them unload the milquetoast Alex Gonzalez (who just didn't fit in Boston), the terrible Carl Crawford (another bad fit for Boston), and Josh Beckett (who the fans have demanded the Sox get rid of for months).

Plus, the Sox saved a shitload of money, neary $250 million in guaranteed deals. So much for being a big spending big market team. Check this out ...

From mlbtraderumors.com - The Dodgers now have $193.75MM in contract obligations for next season, $133.6MM for 2014, $90MM for 2015, $88.65MM for 2015, and another $90MM for 2016. The Red Sox, on the other hand, are now on the hook for just $45.6MM in 2013, $34.4MM in 2014, $12.75MM in 2015, and $2.45MM in 2016.

This is major addition by subtraction for the Red Sox. I cannot believe that the Dodgers apparently wanted Gonzalez so bad (and maybe thought they could rehab Crawford) that they would be willing to take on all that money.
