The AL East is looking great this year. If Toronto comes up to speed adn the Yanks can keep overperforming it promises to be a pretty exciting and tight race. Anyone modifying predictions yet?

I dont think Toronto will get up to speed this year. Im very suprised how good Boston and New York are this year. I thought for sure it was gonna be a down year for both. But if everyone keeps up this pace im going to be watching closely for sure.

Damn the Cardinals. Damn them straight to hell. They got one of the best farm systems in all of baseball too so they probably won't be going anywhere for a while.

And now the O's prepare to dislodge the Bosox from the top of the AL East. This should be an interesting series.

All Boston has to do is stave off Baltimore. By winning today, they can get a split on Sunday and call the series a push.

That said, the AL East will likely end up coming down to September at this point, since everyone but Toronto is still in the hunt.

I tried to warn Kimball about Toronto during the Baseball Special, but he didn't believe me. That said, I picked Anaheim and they've been as anemic as Toronto this season. Same with the other 'superteam,' the Dodgers.

I remember that. And he dissed you for your sentimental, but misguided, selection of the Bosox; not realizing he was committing the same error with the Toronto "Marlins".

I think I also picked the Angels for the division or one of the WC. Oh well, it wouldn't be interesting if it always went our way.

There was a Twilight Zone about that. About a gangster who died and always won at gambling and started getting bored in his afterlife. Then when he complained about it to his guardian angel, he realized he hadn't died and gone to Heaven, but to Hell.

I'd have to go back and look but I'm pretty sure at this point in the season all my predictions about division winners is wrong. I'd probably would have been better off picking names out of a hat.

Looks like I might have spoke too soon on Toronto. 9 game winning streak and only 7 back in the division.

I noticed their win streak last night.

In fact, they won today, too, which put them 1 game over .500 and, stunningly, put them into a tie for 4th place in the AL East w. Tampa Bay, and only 6.5 games back. Looks like its anyone's division again.

And now every team in the AL East is playing over .500. When was the last time that happened in a division?

I can't say, for sure, but I think it did happen in the AL East briefly last year, when the Sox were shortly above .500.

Changed thread title to '2013 MLB Discussion' to greater encompass discussion of all of baseball, rather than just the AL East.
