There are reports circulating that Mae Young has died. She had been in hospice care for the last week and was taken off of life support yesterday, so she has either passed away or is gravely close to doing so.

Until WWE overused her, Mae was a delightful character from the attitude era. Also, she may be the only wrestler to ever have a match in every decade from the 1940's to the 2010's. And she was tough as hell, considering she was put through a table like 10 years ago by the Dudleys and suffered countless other beatdowns during her revival in modern wrestling when she was in her 80's.

Very happy for her that she got her induction into the Hall of Fame while she was still alive and could enjoy the moment. Feels like WWE has lost its grandma today

RIP. Hope they do a nice tribute to her. She sure was tough as hell, not sure many 80 year olds would survive being powerbombed off the stage thru a table.

She didn't die, did she? I think the initial report was premature.

The initial report was premature, but she ended up dying earlier this week. WWE.com confirmed it.

Here's WWE's video tribute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRrUPF1uGvM

Nice writeup about Young on Jim Ross' blog.

From the stuff he wrote, she had a pretty amazing life -- way before she was ever powerbombed (my favorite memory of her).
