Everyone,
I wanted to start a thread about the classic landmark show, In Search Of ...
Growing up in the late 70s, early 80s, this show had a huge effect on developing my interest in the paranormal realm as I'm sure it did on others as well. The music and some of the location settings still creep me out.

In fact (almost getting misty) this might have been the seminal show of my youth. It may be the most important TV show in paranormal history because it was the first and because it lasted about 4 or 5 years.

Looking at the episode list, nearly every topic still sounded interesting and looked like a blue print for Coast to Coast. It was so ahead of it's time it's sick. I mean in the late 70s, who the heck was talking Cryogenics or NDEs?

Now if we could just get it on DVD, I would be happy.
Fave episode: Amityville Horrors (Nimoy in the basement with that music still gets to me)

Here's the episode list and if anyone wants to chime in, please do.

The cup was preserved by Joseph of Arimathea, who took some of Christ's blood in it at the Crucifixion, making it 'holy' and 'sangreal.' Eventually Joseph fled to Britain, taking the grail with him. It was left to be guarded by holy men there but it vanished because of the impurity of its guardians. Although the Biblical legend ends at this point, the Holy Grail is also a part of the King Arthur legend, in which Sir Galahad is sent on a quest for it. In this century a golden cup was discovered, with a silver cup inside, and it was believed to be he Holy Grail. Since then, however, many historians have felt it was not the grail because it came from a later age.

I really wonder where the people who made the show went. There was no other programming like it.

I would have loved to see them investigate the Georgia Guidestones.

Sorry about the long list above, but it helps jog the memory and remind you how good that show was.

This was such a great show. Far before my time, but I used to watch re-runs of it when I was staying home sick from school.

Along with Unsolved Mysteries, it was these shows that really got me interested in the paranormal.

I used to watch the re-runs of this show too. It was indeed a classic.

Khyron: Staying home from school and watching ISO was the best. I never got to see the show on its first run either (I was barely alive).

Also cool was that the reruns would air back to back, so as I recall, you'd get two half-hour episodes.

Plus there was something neat about seeing Nimoy on location at Easter Island or Stonehenge.

You wonder if the mainstream nightly TV audience in the late 70s when the show was new, thought it was crazy. But when you package the paranormal and UFOs with some of history's mysteries, it's a more accessible combo meal.

Looking at the list what stand out are the boners of the group (not many) like: Laugh Therapy, Wild Children and Great Lovers.

It's also ironic to see a show on the coming Ice Age (!)

It never ceases to amaze me just how similar we esotericons are. That back to back lineup is exactly what I watched.

So true. The worst was when I knew I'd be going back to school because I felt better, and the second episode was to be continued as one of the rare two-parters.

The History Channel used to rerun the shows, but I read on Wikipedia that the contract lapsed in the early 2000s. You would think Sci-Fi, Discovery or someone would jump on those.

Another sidenote, it's interesting to see "UFO Captives" as the pre-abductee term. It would be a kick to see a young Bud Hopkins on that show. Or even see other guys like Paul Bennewitz on the Bermuda Triangle, in their prime.

Sadly I am old enough to have watched the first run. I remember watching every week as a kid. It was my favorite show. I remember watching Star Trek and being impressed that it had the guy from In Search of.

I think I remember watching this on Sunday nights(back when we had like 3 tv channels in the 70s) and it may have been on before Mutual of Omahas Wild Kingdom and Disney.

I really remember the Shroud of Turin episode, that was back during my time being really into Biblical history.

My history teacher in Jr. High, Mr. Smith, had all of the episodes on tape and used to show them to us on fridays.
