Michael must be so interesting to invite round your house for dinner - the conversation would be scintillating.

Skeptic magz. and Mike what joke.
It would be nice he was a skeptic about haft the crap that he comes up with. I think his mind is areadly made up. I'm sure if someone were to pen him down he would admit to believe in UFO's, but you what, he doesn't making a living in believing.

I wish he interview with Ian or I would have a pow-wow with him, and really ask him some hard question to craw-fish out of.

I've seen a couple of interviews over the years where people have tried to ask him things he can't answer, so he just deflects it with his usual smarmy talking points or by laughing off the unexplained.

He's such a tool.

He approaches things in the correct manner, "extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof".

It's not the skeptic's fault that there is no hard evidence of anything paranormal. Berating them for not accepting things at face value or "wishing" they were true is not productive.

Have you ever read Skeptic? Why do you think it is a joke?

He doesn't believe in eyewitness testimony.
He doesn't believe in photo's, video evidence.
He has a giggle laugh.

No, he doesn't approach things like that in the least and never has.

That is how skepticism should be, yes, but that is not the game Shermer plays. He doesn't look at things objectively. He doesn't say "I'm approacing this needing to be convinced of something. Convince me." he ridicules, demeans, eye rolls. he cracks "jokes", and worst of all he ignores (or at the very least lessens the importance of) evidence that refutes his stance on a given topic.

His gimmick is old and tired. He isn't looking for the truth, he's looking to ridicule. And sure, it's fun to see whackos get slammed. But he's extended that to EVERYTHING.

Eyewitness testimony and photographs aren't necessarily reliable sources of evidence. They may be used to corroborate more substantial empirical data, or data that can be repeated, tested, and falsified, but "taking someone's word for it" even if they have a polaroid, is not scientifically or skeptically rigorous.

Which would be fine if it were the only problem with Shermer. It isn't.

It appears the only physical evidence we have is locked up by our government for our protection.

Ha....Your kidding, right?

Why do I think he's a joke....

Well, as stated above...
He doesn't believe in convincing eyewitness testimony, Which includes testimony from Cops, Ex-Gov. Military, Doctors, Other Countries Gov. , and in general people consider creditable.
(just check out google video and search "the disclosure project") I also forgot to include multiple eyewitness cases.

He doesn't believe in photo's, video evidence, even when provided from people like listed above, and from pre-photoshop days.
Also cases where different people from different parts of a town or area record the same UFOs from different places and do not know each other.

He always whines about physical evidence but doesn't except it unless its an Alien in his hands. Gov Documents, a damaged police car, radar data, removed implants, Art's Parts, Chemicals left behind, and the list goes on, none of these count for Mike as physical evidence.

He doesn't do the research he just says nope without looking, this not skeptical this is stupical.
I can't believe he is really skeptical. If anybody really does there homework, there no way to do all research and come away as a skeptic unless your a retard, or unless you are making money off being a skeptic.

Marshall County, Minnesota Police department has a squad car all beat to hell and back from a close encounter what does that count as?
I forget which airports, but I know they have black box recording with pic from a pilot and
radar data, what does that count as?

There's allot of trace cases

He's just a professional debunker.

The problems with people who pose as skeptics, like Shermer, is that they
jump to conclusions; make assumptions (i.e. that when talking about UFOs, we're tallking about aliens), and they start off by treating the whole sujbect, with all its complexities (of which they know little or nothing about) like one big silly joke. Shermer's green alien toys; good example.

the "alien (anal) probe" jokes are old, stale, lame and, by engaging in these silly little jokes, the real discussion of the subject is diluted, and not much is accomplished in way of understanding.

(I know, this is an old thread but I just couldn't help myself.) :D

Watch the first episode of South Park and say the anal probe jokes are lame.... Just wanted to inject a little levity (verry little apparently) into the discussion LOL.
