Once I found out that the movie wasn't actually based on true events I was a bit turned off. However, after reading your article and looking at it from the perspective of: "yes, it's fiction but there is a fear element that abductees can relate to", I think I will go see it.

I agree with Budd Hopkins that the film probably (as I haven't seen it yet) portrays abductions in a way that is largely inaccurate based on testimonies from abductees (kind of like 'Fire In The Sky'). The movie needs to show a profit and scary movies are almost a sure thing. The bizarre stories told by witnesses would make a great film but I doubt the general public would show much interest.

Certainly there are parts that seem to only be there to add to the fear element. I am sure that Budd Hopkins knows a lot more about abduction than I do, but there are people with really weird and horrifying abduction experiences that are not typical of the majority. Yeah, it is probably inaccurate in a lot of ways compared to the majority of cases, but we have to remember it is just a movie and mostly for entertainment. People in Ufology often tend to take Hollywood way too seriously, at least IMO. :D
