Any Dune fans here, I really enjoyed the TV series and am completely hooked on the books right now. Reading Paul of Dune which is a direct sequel to the original novel.

I read Dune back in high school. Currently working on Dune Messiah. It's definitely my favorite book.

No, no, no, no !!!!!!!! Please don't equate anything written by Kevin J Anderson with anything written by Frank Herbert!
Paul of Dune is no more a sequel to Dune than if I wrote the Lord of the Rings 2.5: That Time Frodo and I partied with Bacchus.

Forgive my vehemence, but I really love the original books written by Frank Herbert, especially Dune and God Emperor of Dune. And in the past I have read some of Kevin J Anderson's books. When I first heard he was writing Dune prequels I almost pooped on my shoes in agony. I don't think it possible for him to approach the complexity of Herbert's writing.

I love all the original Dune books! I also enjoy the Herbert/Anderson ones. I know Dune purists hate those, but I find them enjoyable.

I have to agree with Vamp...the Herbert books were the story of my Junior year in high school. Believe it or not, I didn't see the movie until after reading all of the books, so I didn't have to be let down by Sting's "acting" performance. But nonetheless, I don't think anyone but Herbert is qualified to write Dune books. That would be like someone rewriting Starship Troopers...

Well Frank Herbert's 6 books are definitely classics but the others aren’t that bad, they're there for people who want more.

I've been meaning to go back and reread the original Dune books. Especially since in a lot of ways the world is a lot more feudal today than it was back when I read them in the 80's.

Love the original 6 Dune books! I really enjoyed God Emperor of Dune which seems to be the least favorite of many others I know who have read the original series. I must admit, I did enjoy the Legends of Dune series a lot, even though writing styles are much different. I just like the story of how everything started.

I found my library had the audio books (the ones from around 2007) for the original six books. Been listening to them and am almost through Heretics of Dune right now. It's nice to have a consistent voice for all books. And the guy does a fantastic job with the different characters.

And God Emperor is my 2nd favorite of the series behind only Dune.

Frank Herbert was an ecologist, Dune was a brilliantly told allegory of what happens when one fails to recognize the planet as a living entity. Some of my favorite books ever!

I'm a fan of the original Dune series. Every few years I reread them all. I read a few of the Brian Herbert/Kevin J. Anderson books. They are ok stories. KJA is a great hack writer. I don't really consider them canon and and haven't felt the need to keep up with the series.
