Due to arrive in mid-2011.

This is great news, even for the WWE-haters (I'm looking at you, RSS, lol), since they will have so much time to fill and have such a massive library that I expect a lot of old WCW & NWA stuff, plus AWA and ECW shows.

I had WWE On Demand for a little while and it was really something special and that was in the early years. Nowadays it is even more packed with stuff, I just don't have the time to watch it, so I cancelled the package. With a WWE cable channel, that will really make it a lot more accessible.

Anyway, here's the news link:

I would watch some of the non-WWE stuff on the new WWE channel.

Here’s a question if they ran repeats of RAW from 1998 up against RAW today how many people would rather watch the repeats?

Personally I’d go for the repeats every time unless they had Austin or the Rock or someone like that returning.

That's an interesting question ... would WWE counter-program against themselves?

I could see them airing old Prime Time Wrestling (the show that pre-dates RAW and was hilariously co-hosted by Heenan and Monsoon) against RAW, since it was mostly squash matches.

I remember reading a while back that Vince's endgame for the WWE Channel would be to get it off the ground and successful enough that he could move Raw (and whatever else) there once their deals with their current channels had expired. That was back when this was very early in the concept stage and even if its still the plan it would be a looooong way's off from happening.

WWE makes so much from the rights' fees for the shows (though nothing in advertising), I'm not sure if that would be a good move, though I've heard the same sort of idea.

I think RAW on USA is an institution and to tinker with it would be a bad idea. Then again, they already did once (moving it to Spike TV), but then switched back as soon as possible.

It would be best to get Smackdown off of MyTV, which is like below CW in market share and visibility.
