- The Los Angeles Times reports that WWE will be moving Friday Night SmackDown from MyNetworkTV to SyFy this October. An official announcement is scheduled for later this week.

The Times notes that it's believed SyFy is paying $30 million for SmackDown to air on it's network. WWE has had rights to shop SmackDown to anywhere on network TV but could only move the show to a cable station owned by NBC-Universal.

Time will tell on this, but it's probably for the best. MyNetworkTV is a joke.

What? I thought it was a science fiction network. I'm sure Obama had something to do with this.

What's next? A man marrying a lawnmower?

It's okay to marry a lawnmower, however, I would not recommend having sex with it...CHOP CHOP... not a good scene.... Could make a good stipulation for a WWE match though. Loser has to make love to a John Deere.

Ahhhh... you see! If it were for Sci Fi (aka Science Fiction) it would be called that.. BUT .. THEY removed that name and decided to call it SYFY which they can define as THEY like..
How clever they are!

But their television still sucks! Nearly all the best things that network EVER had were started somewhere else.. about the only thing there thats watchable anymore is Eureka!

Everything else just bites dead bears.

As part of this deal, it looks like NXT is now dead. Smackdown will be the only wrestling show on the channel. That means that after four years, WWE is officially back down to just Raw and Smackdown (Superstars is still syndicated, but it's nothing notable).

They could always swap NXT over to the Superstars slot, since Superstars is very expendible and really the opposite of "must watch" TV.

True, but Friday night has generally been the showcase night for their original programming. Will this continue to air on Friday night and if so what effect will it have on original programming?

I've heard that NXT will be gone and the original programming will move to Tuesdays. Smackdown will stay on Friday nights.

I'm surprised that they didn't move Smackdown to Thursday, since that seems like a better night for it and the ad rates are better then too.
