           Yankees offer something crazy, 7 years, $154 million and Cliff Lee takes LESS MONEY to return to Philly!!!!!!

Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, Hamels, Blanton.

I don't know where Philly got the cash, but I love it when someone snubs the Evil Empire.

Sweet, sweet Yankee fail!

It's only a matter of time before the "We didn't want him anyway, did you see how he was hit during the World Series?" stories start, I'm sure.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Spankees have to make some ridiculous trade now, like giving up their phenom catching prospect Montero for Felix Hernandez for the Mariners, since there are no 'aces' available after next off-season and even 2011's free agent pitchers aren't that impressive.

I have a feeling that you took the words right out of MM's mouth.

All I have to say is what the hell are the Cards thinking signing Berkman? He was past his prime five years ago.

I think it was Cowheard I was listening to this morning (I'm usually at work so I don't know who is on) and he made two points.
1 - Lee has a kid in remission from cancer and in Philly he'll be right there with CHOPS which is probably the premier children's hospital in the country
2 - This one I questioned, and I don't recall all the numbers, but with the incentives and the optional year the difference is "only" about 10 million not the 30-40 like it seems on the face value. He believed this were easily obtainable benchmarks that would earn him the incentive bonuses.

Yeah with a pitching rotation that isn't as good as the Phillies and with an infield featuring the worst defensive shortstop in the major leagues.

Just announced, the 2011 Baseball HoF inductees ...

Bert Blyleven and Roberto Alomar

Very happy for Blyleven, who was on his 14th year of elligibility and crept up the standings each year.

Ugh. Tampa Bay Rays are on the verge of signing both Manny Ramirez and Johnny Damon. Will make for some interesting games next season when the Rays come to Boston, but this smacks of both desperation and Tampa Bay possibly reverting back to expansion team levels.

Also, Anaheim trades Mike Napoli to Toronto in exchange for Vernon Wells. Meh.

Plus, the Spankees overpaid former Rays closer Soriano with a three year deal and also signed has-been outfielder Andru Jones.
